My anxiety is fine

Anxiety is a perfectly normal reaction to difficult situations or challenges.  However, for those people who suffer from an anxiety disorder, their fears and worries don’t diminish when the issue is resolved. In most cases, their anxiety escalates over time and gradually interferes with daily life.  The National Institute of Mental Health has concluded that anxiety disorder is the most prevalent mental illness in the United States.

Panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, phobias and social anxiety disorder are all the result of abnormalities in the brain and currently affect forty million adults. Symptoms include shortness of breath, increase heart rate, nausea, chest pain, trembling, tingling, choking, lightheadedness, and loss of control.  Medications most often used to treat symptoms of anxiety and panic attacks have been linked to an extensive list of adverse side effects. Dizziness, headaches, fatigue, weight fluctuation, sexual dysfunction, and long-term damage to the heart, lungs and kidneys are potential complications.
